We've all got to start at some time, and so this is my very first effort as a Blogger. I have to thank my brother Boppin' Bob for suggesting I do Blogs after he and I are nearly at the end of a membership of a Social Networking Site known as 'Multiply' . Unfortunately, all good things it seems come to an end, and we can no
longer use this site after December 1st--at least in this part of the world, as the powers that be behind Multiply are intending on doing better, business wise in the Indonesian and Phillippine markets. Need I say any more, not really, except to mention that most, if not all your big Social Networking sites like Facebook and the like have all developed into Multi Mega Advertising $$ concerns. What once began as a simple, homely sharing prog, where one could upload a few photos, songs, and videos, and have a nice chat online for a few mins. etc. has now to my mind grown into a monstrous unfeeling entity. We now use these sites at
our peril, and are inundated with tweaks, nudges, awarded stars, invited to play silly little games and God knows what else. It is all superficial, and becomes a nuisance after a white. I don't need all that in a Social Networking Site. Has anyone got anything better to suggest belonging to where one can interact and make
friends ? It used to be known as one's local Youth Club. However, I've long outgrown that. I get more fun
and interaction these days with people while visiting my local pub once a week on a Sunday !

"As Time Goes By" - Sat Sept 13th 2008
A glorious day this in the southern part of the UK. It could easily have been a Summer's day again. After a swim at the Pyramids, at Southsea, Hampshire, I went on my usual walk along the Esplanade at Southsea, but stopped suddenly when I noticed a butterfly, fluttering south across the Solent in the general direction of the Isle of Wight some 5 miles away. Good God I thought. There we have a brave creature willing to pit itself against the elements to reach a distant shoreline against all odds. As the butterfly fluttered off into the distance, I wished it "Bon Voyage" and a safe crossing. Not so lucky earlier on in the the day was the sad sight of the mangled remains of a hedgehog in the middle of the road where I lived. It had obviously attempted a crossing the previous night, but tragically had been run over by a vehicle or vehicles unknown. Such is life.
